what is risograph?

Rabarbar Press risograph

A risograph is basically a photocopier that silkscreens in vivid inks.

A Risograph is a Japanese stencil printer (technically called a duplicator) that prints a satisfying, matte ink onto uncoated paper using eco-friendly, semi-transparent inks. You print one colour at a time. It’s quite a bit like silkscreening, except the screen is made inside the machine.

Each print turns out uniquely and deliciously different. It is natural for slight imperfections exist in the printing, and it is part of this totally delightful medium.

Risograph printing is beloved by artists, zinesters, book arts enthusiasts and graphic designers across the world!
